The Cookeville Surgery Center: Before Surgery
The Cookeville Surgery Center |

The Cookeville Surgery Center and your surgeon work as a team to provide quality surgical services. Your surgeon’s office will call to schedule your surgery at TCSC.
One business day prior to your surgery, a TCSC nurse will call you to review your instructions before surgery, schedule your arrive time, and answer any questions.
Any patients requiring general anesthesia* should visit Upper Cumberland Anesthesia to discuss the patient’s medical history and receive additional pre-op instructions. This will help your surgical procedure go somewhat more smoothly. If for any reason you are unable to make this visit, please contact their office at 931-528-7877. If the patient is a minor child, the child must be with a parent or guardian at this anesthesia appointment.
Your surgeon may order preoperative laboratory tests, x-rays, or other tests. You will be referred to the appropriate facility with the required paperwork. This may be performed on the same day surgery is recommended, but should be completed no later than three (3) days before surgery unless special arrangements have been made.
If having general anesthesia, you must arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you to TCSC on the day of surgery and drive you home after surgery. Please arrange for someone to remain with you for 24 hours after surgery. Please leave valuables at home. You should make arrangements for the care of children during the preoperative and surgical visits.
* If you are to have general anesthesia do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery.
